Matt Jones | A Word From the IMPART Executive Editor July 1, 2010 | Theme: Enduring Hardness (Smyrna) Did you know that your faith has a face? Faith "appears" and is revealed in both word and deed — and in this article, Matt Jones shows how the spiritual force of faith often requires a tangible outlet to fulfill its function and produce something of value. Supporting Military Families as a Local Church Ed Ahl Th.D | 'How-To's' of Ministry July 1, 2010— With so many in need in the world around us, it's easy to overlook a large, "silent" segment of our American population who undergo many hardships and difficulties, often with little or no outside support. They are the families — the spouses and children — of our deployed military personnel. In this article, U.S. Army Chaplain Ed Ahl shares seven practical ways the local church can provide much-needed ministry to these service men and women and their families — and he also shares valuable resources for expanding this outreach of compassion in your community.
John Bevere | Heart Alignment
July 1, 2010 — Our relationship with God is the relationship above all others, and truly nothing surpasses His matchless fellowship and companionship. International speaker and author John Bevere shares how the keys to intimacy with God — reverence and obedience — lead to greater fulfillment, for minister and layperson alike, than one could seek out in a lifetime.
By Rick Renner | Book Excerpt Sneak Peek * July 1, 2010 — As the Lord Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church, surveyed the hardships of the church at ancient Smyrna, He commended their vast spiritual treasuries, born of their ever-deepening commitment to Him and to each other despite horrific persecution and loss. Stripped of their earthly treasures, they seemed to be failing at life. Yet Jesus made the pronouncement, "You're rich" and encouraged them — as He encourages us today — that those enduring riches would never be taken away.
By Rick Renner | Book Excerpt Sneak Peek * July 1, 2010 — Many have experienced material loss and devastation — and many have also faced losing their very lives. The church of ancient Smyrna was challenged with both. Persecuted by the government and by pagan Jews, their livelihoods had been largely diminished. Afterward, an even darker wave of persecution loomed high to threaten their physical lives. But like a mighty fortress, Jesus stepped in to warn them of the days that were to come and give them the backbone and fortitude to remain steady and faithful to the truth they'd embraced. He will do no less for His Church in this hour.

Rick Renner| Last Word July 1, 2010 — Jesus is described in Revelation 3:14 as "...the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God." Jesus, the Living Word, is the Faithful and True Witness who says what He means and means what He says! In this article, Rick Renner encourages the reader to be confident in and dependent on Him in good times and bad — and to realize that just as sin brings its own consequences, obedience yields its sure rewards. Jesus says so! |
